Terms of Use

1. The Service

West Valley IRL helps participants at real-world community events check in, create professional or creative profiles, discover people in the room, exchange revocable QR contact cards, and request connections. Features, event availability, and access may change over time.

2. Accounts

You must provide an email address you are authorized to use and keep your account information accurate. You are responsible for activity under your account and for protecting access to your email and device. Do not share one-time sign-in codes or attempt to access another person's account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.

3. Community conduct

You agree to act respectfully and professionally. You may not use the Service to harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate against, impersonate, exploit, or deceive another person; post unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, defamatory, or infringing material; distribute spam or malicious software; scrape member information; evade privacy settings; or use contact details for unsolicited marketing.

Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, trafficking, sexual solicitation involving a child, and any conduct or content that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers a child are strictly prohibited. Our public Child Safety Standards explain how to report concerns and how we respond.

Use the clearly labeled Report or block action in the app for inappropriate profiles, abusive users, or safety concerns. Blocking immediately hides the members from each other, removes their connection, and sends a private moderation report to West Valley IRL. You may also contact hello@westvalleyirl.com. We review objectionable-content reports within 24 hours and, when a violation is confirmed, hide the offending content and suspend the responsible account. We may also cooperate with authorities when reasonably necessary to protect the community or comply with law.

4. Your profile and content

You retain ownership of information and content you submit. You grant West Valley IRL a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to operate, secure, promote, and improve the Service. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit the content and that it is accurate and lawful.

5. Visibility, directory, past events, QR cards, and connections

The member directory is optional and off by default. If you enable it, your non-contact profile information and links are visible to signed-in members until you turn it off. Email and phone visibility remain controlled separately. People who checked into the same event may continue to see one another’s profiles through that event’s attendee list after the event ends. You are responsible for the profile and visibility settings you select and for deciding who receives your QR card. A person with an active QR-card link may share that link with others. You can rotate the card to disable the prior link. You may not scrape directory or attendee information or use it for unsolicited marketing. A connection request or QR exchange does not create an employment, agency, partnership, endorsement, or confidential relationship.

6. In-person events and safety

Use reasonable judgment when meeting people. West Valley IRL does not verify every statement made by members and does not guarantee another participant's identity, qualifications, conduct, opportunities, or suitability. Follow venue rules and event-specific requirements. If there is an immediate threat, contact venue staff or emergency services.

7. Third-party services and backup RSVPs

The Service may link to third-party services such as ticketing platforms, websites, social networks, or device contact tools. Their terms and privacy practices govern your use of those services. West Valley IRL is not responsible for third-party services.

If the ticketing provider is temporarily unavailable, we may offer a West Valley IRL backup guest list. A backup RSVP records your interest and permits essential event communications, but does not issue a third-party ticket, process payment, guarantee admission, or override venue capacity or event changes. Future-event promotional email is optional and requires the separate choice shown on the RSVP form.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, branding, design, software, and materials provided by West Valley IRL are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable laws. Except for the limited right to use the Service under these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.

Partnership inquiries

Partnership tiers and included items describe possible starting points and may vary by event, venue, availability, and the parties’ agreed scope. Submitting an inquiry does not reserve inventory, guarantee acceptance, establish exclusivity, or create a sponsorship, agency, endorsement, or other binding agreement. Any final partnership, deliverables, fees, timing, approvals, and use of names or marks must be confirmed separately in writing by authorized representatives.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or limit features if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk for another person, or exposed the Service to legal or security risk.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, West Valley IRL and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of opportunities, loss of data, or conduct of members or third parties arising from the Service or an event. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service during the preceding twelve months or one hundred U.S. dollars. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute not subject to a mandatory alternative process will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in Los Angeles County, California, unless applicable consumer law requires otherwise.

13. Apple terms

If you downloaded the iOS app from Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These Terms supplement that agreement. Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for the Service.

14. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We will post the revised Terms with a new effective date and, when required, request renewed acceptance. Questions may be sent to hello@westvalleyirl.com.
